Beyond The Rainbow Bridge

I sit upon this park bench; I’ll sit and wait for you.
I’ll sit through sunny weather when skies are clear and blue.
I’ll sit through snowstorms, deep and long, the wait well worth the while.
I’ll pass the time by looking back on thoughts that make me smile.
We always knew that ‘twixt us two, I’d be the first to go.
How much that would break both our hearts, neither you nor I did know.
But I’ll wait here upon this bench, just this side of glory,
And just beyond the rainbow bridge, in eternities territory.
