Wording:

In The Words Of A Child

The day of reckoning comes so late
For the struggling souls who do nothing but wait
Justice and true equality
Are fleeting words for men like me
But for those who live and do the wait
In a world of fear and sometimes hate
The meaning is deep, and cuts like a knife
Each day as they wait to live a life
Like others have and they should too
And not the injustice that they go through
Simply because of the tone of their skin
So many are destined not to win
Hope sprang forth  in the strangest way
On the streets of Minnesota that day
When some men in blue answered a call
They rolled up in a notorious squall
One knelt on his neck as American’s in dread
Looked on helpless until Floyd fell dead
These men in blue, made to pay the price
For their terrible hatred and un-thinkable choice
Got what they deserved in the end
But people of color were left to contend
With a situation all too we’ll known
As they dealt with another one of their own
Who had been defiled by men in blue
With skin of white and hearts not true
But Floyd’s child spoke out with an innocent tone
In only the way of a child not grown
Could simply state what her heart now knew
A truth she would not understand till she grew
Her words will ring true for decades to come
Such profound words for someone so young
The wise words of an innocent girl
“My daddy‘s gonna change the world”
