I Can’t Breathe

The battle cry heard o’r the virus, came through loud and clear
Saying, “I can’t breathe” twenty seven times, fell upon deaf ears
Not the ears of justice nor of equality
They fell on ears that made him just another casualty
Nine full minutes and twenty nine ticks, George Floyd cried out and plead
But that knee stayed upon his neck, until George Floyd was dead
Another black man taken, by a man in blue, so vile
Your brothers black and white held hands, as they buried you in style
But your war cry heard around the globe, made everyone believe
That you would change the world as you cried out, “I can’t breathe.”
