Paralyzed with sadness, terrified with fear

Something very odd and strange is happening right here

World wide pandemic, elections going on

Something is not right here, something’s very wrong

Wildfires blazing, as our world self destructs

Shows how far we’ve gone astray and morals run amoK

The murder of a black man was viewed before our eyes

But all were not against this as I watched through tear-filled eyes

Attacks on our democracy, angst with my fellow man

Hearts that break with disbelief, have taken all they can

The death of Kobe Bryant and his daughter was so freak

Some new thing unthinkable, happens every week

Weinstein was convicted of abusing women’s rights

And the world had let men do this until we took up the fight

Impeachment by the democrats blessings by Repubs

The closure of all restaurants, gymnasiums and clubs

Self-isolation, fearfulness and hiding behind masks

No more outings with our friends or menial self tasks

No hugs or face to faces or friendly shaking hands

A grim no-contact order’s what the universe demands

And that lack of interaction and the words starkly unspoken

Have left empaths wandering aimlessly, hopeless and heart-broken

For one cannot survive the times of freakish raw emotion

If you feel things too deeply, have unwavering devotion

What happens to those sensitive and over civilized

is to fall apart and crumble and be broken.
